Keyword research tells you what people type into Google, so you write pages that match real demand instead of guesses. Here is the process I use for my own sites and clients, with free tools.

From my own work: My own traffic grew when I stopped chasing the biggest numbers and wrote for specific questions customers actually ask, such as costs, comparisons and step-by-step guides.
1. Start with seed topics
List what your business sells and the questions customers ask you. Each becomes a seed, for example “WordPress security” or “AI chatbot for WhatsApp”.
2. Expand with free tools
- Google Keyword Planner for volume ranges.
- Google autocomplete and “People also ask” for real phrasing.
- Google Trends to compare topics and seasonality.
- Search Console to find queries you already show up for.
3. Match search intent
| Intent | Example | Page type |
|---|---|---|
| Informational | how to create a WordPress website | Guide or blog post |
| Commercial | best WordPress hosting | Comparison or review |
| Transactional | hire WordPress developer | Service page |
| Navigational | Saizul Amin portfolio | Brand page |
Search the keyword yourself. If Google shows guides, write a guide, not a sales page.
4. Judge difficulty honestly
New sites rarely beat big brands for short, broad terms. Prefer long-tail phrases (4+ words) with clear intent. Check the first page: if it is full of major publishers, pick a narrower angle you can cover with real experience.
5. Map one main keyword to one page
Give each page a primary keyword plus a few related phrases, and avoid two pages targeting the same term (they compete). Put the keyword naturally in the title, first paragraph, a heading and the URL, never stuffed.
6. Track and improve
After publishing, watch Search Console for impressions and position, then improve pages that sit on page two. Combine this with the on-page SEO checklist and measure results with GA4.
Need help with this on your own site or business?
I build and secure WordPress sites, web apps and AI automations end to end, in Bangla and English. The process is a free discovery call, a written scope with a fixed quote, a focused first version, then testing, deployment and monitoring.
