Why Classic ws and Socket.IO Collapse at 100k Connections
Standard Node.js WebSocket libraries (such as ws and Socket.IO) struggle when concurrent connections exceed 50,000 per server. V8 garbage collection pauses, buffer copies, and heavy memory footprints per socket (approx. 40KB–80KB each) cause high RAM pressure. uWebSockets.js implements a C++ native networking engine that handles over 1,000,000 concurrent WebSockets per server with sub-millisecond dispatch latencies.
